However, it is common—and almost expected—that the circumstances of your life will change over time.
Changes to your estate plan may be necessary as a result of significant life events. After any of the following life events, for instance, you should always have a lawyer review your estate plan:
- Bringing a child into the home (birth or adoption);
- Divorce or remarriage;
- Changes in your health;
- Changes in your financial situation;
- Changes in business ownership;
- Death of a beneficiary; or
- Changes to your distribution plan, for example, if you want to add charitable giving.
